FUN TIMES IN EFFECT
The team just got back from the 2006 Rust Belt Regional Poetry Slam, and had a blast! Columbus represented with two teams this year and each team did their thing. Black Pearl came in 2nd place in each of their bouts, but did not get into finals. But no worries! The team had a great time and took a big step towards being ready for the National Poetry Slam in August. Thanks to all those who sent well wishes to the team.
Oh, by the way, Black Pearl Poetry will be the host for the 2007 Rust Belt Regional Poetry Slam!
OPEN MIC IN EFFECT
Each week, people from all over town (and the state for that matter) rush out on Tuesday's to hear some great work. Make sure YOU are one of those people this week! The list fills up fast so get out on time to sign up and be a part of a fun night where YOU are what's most important. We'll be waiting to hear you this Tuesday night so bring your poems, bring someone else's poem, and bring a friend and a smile.

Black Pearl Poetry is proud to present the one and only Ms. Traci Currie as our featured poet this week.
Traci has Completed BA in Communication Studies at University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill; Completed MFA in Film at Ohio University; PhD in the School of Telecommunications at Ohio University; Area of interest is African American Oral Tradition and Cultural & Media Studies.In addition to this, Traci tours, performs, has released an awesome album with spoken word, and was a member of the first ever National Poetry Slam team to come out of Columbus.Make sure to come out and hear this incredible woman do her thing! SLAM IN EFFECT This one is different. And special. And easy. And stress free. Come out and see for yourself.
